Michaelangelo Gallery Presents the work of Mekenzie Schneider

SANTA CRUZ, CA. June 14, 2006 -- Michaelangelo Gallery and Studios presents paintings by Mekenzie Schneider at a gala opening and reception from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2006.

Michaelangelo Gallery is celebrating the accomplishments of artist Mekenzie Schneider. Ms. Schneider is currently an art and education student at Otis College of Art and Design, in Los Angeles, California.

This current exhibition of Ms. Schneider’s work are like “Polaroid Shots” of life, captured in paint.  Mekenzie’s paintings go beyond mere portraiture. In these paintings we glimpse into the ordinary family vacation, which allows the viewer  to reminisce while remembering the preciousness of our time together.

In the large painting of a child with her mother, Mekenzie reminds us of the work of Mary Cassatt.  We see the natural bond between mother and child.  The child relaxes into the mother while both look out together.

Mekenzie’s work displays an appreciation for the craft of painting, art history and modern life.  She fuses them together to produce a dynamic group of paintings.
